Samsung may be announcing a Galaxy S10 Lite and a Galaxy Note 10 Lite this month

Usually this time of the year there’s a whole lot of nothing going on, news-wise. 2019 may be something a little different. Samsung’s reported to be planning a new product announcement for yet more members of the S10 family this December.

Yup, if you haven’t already jumped on the Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note 10 train in 2019, there’s a chance it’s coming around again. Only this time, there will be a pair of Lite variants pulling the coaches. Samsung is said to be announcing a Galaxy Note 10 Lite and a Galaxy S10 Lite before year’s end and, well… would you look at the time? Shouldn’t be long now.

What’s the deal?

We know a surprising amount about both devices thanks to leakers @OnLeaks and @91Mobiles. The Galaxy S10 Lite, which was confirmed by a filing with the FCC in the States, may pack a Snapdragon 855, a 6.3in display, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a 4,500mAh battery. There may be a 5G version of the phone, for supported markets, and it may pitch up with the square camera arrangement said to launch with Samsung’s S11 range next year. We’re not really sure where the ‘Lite’ part comes in.

The Galaxy Note 10 Lite, weirdly, will be less powerful. Samsung’s putting an Exynos 9810 and 6GB of RAM into the Note 10 Lite, according to reports, but it’ll come with an S Pen — that would be awesome on its own. Otherwise, the spec should be more or less the same between the pair.

However… Samsung has yet to make any of this official, so these rumours remain rumours for the present. However, since the whole ‘end of the year’ thing is flying directly at us, we should have something concrete shortly.

UPDATE: As one of our readers points out, these handsets might arrive in South Africa under the Samsung Galaxy A81 (Galaxy Note10 Lite) and Galaxy A91 (Galaxy S10 Lite) banners. We’ll have a further update once Samsung does the whole ‘official’ thing.
