If you’re any kind of office slacker (not that we know what those look like, at all) then you are probably familiar with Funny or Die, the comedy website known for creating videos that make you laugh when you’re supposed to be working on your TPS reports. We know you do it. We’re not going to tell anyone.
Well, Funny or Die are heading to South Africa for a live roadshow, hosted in part by Samsung, at the end of September this year. Funny or Die will be in Johannesburg on 27 September and in Cape Town on 29 September, with tickets going on sale through TicketPro from 15 July. Stuff‘s own Toby Shapshak will be hosting the event, which will have a roster of speakers, where “…aspiring creatives and script writer virtuosos’ [are being] invited to partake in the ground-breaking sessions that will tackle new levels of content transformation, propelling South Africa into a new era of digital content creation and ingenuity.” Might explain the R650 ticket price. But that’s not so much the point.
We’re more interested in something that will be taking place beforehand, a cross-promotional contest with Samsung, Capacity Relations, and Funny or Die which will see one winner walking away with R50,000, a Galaxy S7 and a Samsung Gear 360 camera. Oh, and a video featured on Funny or Die.
What contestants will need to do is offer up a storyboard for an amusing video, one that is under three minutes in length. There can be a maximum of 4 characters and no more than 3 locations involved. Six finalists will get the chance to film their ideas with a Samsung Galaxy S7 or the S7 Edge, a Gear VR and one of Samsung’s Gear 360 360-degree cameras. The eventual winner gets cash and a video posted to Funny or Die for all the world to see. Still, no pressure, yeah?
If you’re ready to make your comedy pitch, head to Samsung’s 360 Degrees of Funny with Samsung & Funny or Die website and submit your storyboard idea. R50,000 and internet fame awaits. You have until 15 August 2016 to enter.
