French video game publisher Ubisoft has reported via a blog post that the company’s servers have been “illegally accessed”, leading to the exposure of customer information. The data that has been compromised includes user names, email addresses and encrypted password information for those make use of Ubisoft’s services.
Ubi said that the intrusion was noted soon after it began and that steps were taken to limit the damage. The company added that “During this process, we learned that data had been illegally accessed from our account database, including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords. It’s important to note that no personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, so fortunately all credit/debit card information was safe from this intrusion.”
Ubisoft has recommended that Ubisoft account holders change their login details for any online accounts that use the same information as a Ubisoft account, as well as the Ubi account. This can be done here.
