My gamertag is more useful than a business card. I write about the tech industry, hardware, software, games, and motoring.

Whether you play it or not, Pokémon Go is a global phenomenon — and something that did make mobile gaming more interactive with its use of augmented reality. Suddenly we weren’t just sliding candies to make lines, we were actually gaming in the real world… and walking around it. Apparently Blizzard employees really like the format, too. Of course, putting ‘mobile gaming’ and Blizzard in a sentence these days is frowned upon. This after they recently announced they’re working on a Diablo mobile game, Diablo Immortal. Fans aren’t happy, not only because they were expecting a desktop title, but because…

Can you remember the last time you had cash in your wallet? You should, because these days, it’s a significant and unusual event with most payments going digital and even mall parking machines accepting cards. Thanks to a new app called uKheshe, though, you’ll now be able to tip car guards or pay newspaper salesman at traffic lights without having any cash on you. Did you know you can pay for followers on the popular social media platform, Instagram? Well, it’s too late now, because Instagram is weeding out fake accounts and the likes that come with them. Most of these fake likes and follows come from third-party apps that charge money for followers, likes and comments. Although Instagram has been fully aware of these apps, they’re busy purging the platform of all the fake accounts, and two of these apps have been taken down from the app stores already. Instagram started removing fake likes, follows and comments this week. They use machine learning…

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) has just lost one of the big three consoles for 2019’s show. Sony has decided to pull PlayStation out of E3 2019, and do… something different. We don’t officially know what that something is but E3 organisers and Sony confirmed that the next event will be PlayStation-less. Considering the massive presence Sony normally has at the show,  E3 will have a fairly large hole in its convention.  The company is also cancelling their PlayStation Experience event, which usually runs in December, so E3 doesn’t have to feel too offended by the move.  “As the industry…
