We all know that, come next week, much of the country will be scrambling for a deal. The latest American transplant, Black Friday, kicks off on 23 November — a day when the brave go shopping and the smart stay home and buy online (and hope the servers stay up). Everyone’s going to be looking for a deal and Cell C hopes to give you one — the mobile service provider will be dropping the piece for streaming service Black’s Binge Elite tier by 80% for Black Friday, until year-end. It took a few years for rumours of a folding Samsung phone to come to a sort of fruition but even now we’re mostly in the dark about what it will entail besides an unusual screen. Rumour is our chief method of seeing what’s going on right now and there are some fresh ones coming out of South Korea. First, a name: The Galaxy F. That’s the apparent title for Samsung’s folding device, a choice that would make a lot of sense. The F probably stands for ‘folding’ or ‘foldable’, if the speculation about the name is correct, but that’s…

When you think of a Harley Davidson you think either of Hell’s Angels, drugs, and crime sprees on the long roads of America, or you have a more modern vision of weekend warriors and their very shiny bikes — Harley, historically, would prefer you think of the second one. With maybe a hint of the first. But one thing both concepts have in common is noise. That blatting, burbling, rumbling noise that some riders go out of their way to augment. Now that seems to be going out of the window, for at least one model Harley — say hi…

Disney, the mouse-fuelled media juggernaut that now owns Star Wars and most things Marvel (all of them, when the contracts expire), has had its own streaming service in the works for a while. The company has now made the service’s title official, revealing a handful of the starting lineup when it launches in late 2019. Say hi to Disney+. Not the most imaginative name, we know, but hopefully Disney have saved the creativity for the just-announced collection of series that will be coming to the service. At least a few fans will have their wishes come true when Disney+ launches.…

Ever since the world found out that Mark Zuckerberg can unsend messages on the social network, Facebook has promised that users would eventually get the same ability. They were testing the feature last month, and now an unsend feature finally is on the way for Facebook’s Messenger app. The feature was seen listed in a ‘coming soon’ portion of Facebook Messenger’s version 191.0 release notes, which do a fair job of explaining how unsending a Messenger missive will work. Basically, if you notice your gaffe within ten minutes (and the recipient hasn’t seen the message yet), you’ll be able to…

Samsung has done what it said it would and revealed its first folding smartphone at the company’s Developer Conference in San Francisco this week. In a manner of speaking, anyway. There was certainly a folding smartphone shown on stage, though the device was disguised in a case that concealed ‘key design elements’. Samsung’s new tech was demonstrated by Justin Denison, the company’s senior vice president of mobile product marketing, and we got an official name for the device at the same time: Meet the Infinity Flex Display. The Infinity Flex Display has made possible a folding device that opens up into a…

The new MacBook Air is now available on the iStore website, starting at R21,500 for the base model Air with a 1.6GHz Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of flash storage.
