I completed a Masters Degree just so someone might take my opinions seriously one day. Also writes about video games over at Critical Hit.

It’s a real pity that laptops are so fragile. The amount of times that you’re looking at the screen of your laptop and feel an intense need to just lob the unit off your desk and into the shower for some technological water torture is ruined by the fact that the thing will most likely never function ever again. What an absolute bummer! Oh, if only there were some daring company willing to try their hand at making a new range of indestructible portable devices that could be taken to any variety of dangerous and rugged outdoor activity! Acer heard…

iPhones are slick little pieces of hardware, no matter which way you cut it. They’re fast, snazzy and have some of the best hardware on the market. Yet what super duper sucks about having an iPhone is when you’re shoehorned into using all their software even though you might prefer something a little more…not Apple. For years now, Apple has dictated what apps iPhone users can have set as their defaults, including Safari as the browser which automatically opens links sent through other apps. So it’s come as a big relief to users (and competitors) that following a soon-to-be-implemented update, iPhone users…

It was a weird day for Microsoft yesterday. Not only did it announce a complete redirection of their Teams app but they also dropped the bomb that its streaming platform Mixer would very soon no longer be operational. Which is pretty shocking considering it was just under a year ago that Mixer announced high-profile exclusivity deals with major streamers Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek as well as several smaller contracts with streamers seen as breaking into the market. Now, all those deals will be transferred over to Facebook Gaming, the company that’s acquiring Mixer. As Brett says, “What…

Microsoft Teams is a bit…eh, right? Like, who actually cares about Teams when there are so many competing apps that do exactly the same thing in a far less cumbersome way. Microsoft clearly knows this as it’s announced an official change in direction for Teams, one that moves away from the corporate, business organisation aspect and something along the lines of an app dedicated to personal group chats, because who doesn’t need more of the most annoying thing about modern communication? Okay, maybe that’s being too harsh on Teams. If the unofficial-official rebranding of Teams as a program dedicated to…

There are very few characters that withstood the “Mascot Wars” of the late 90’s. While Nintendo has maintained the relevance of Mario over the years and SEGA has…well, they tried their best with Sonic, PlayStation has managed to support some of their beloved characters, through Activision, for longer than anyone expected. While Spyro received a decent polish up with the Re-ignited Trilogy last year, Crash Bandicoot has been even more relevant with 2018’s “N-Sane Trilogy”, which saw the first three Crash games on the PlayStation 1 being remade for current hardware but it doesn’t seem like Activision is finished with…

As great as Google Chrome is one has to accept the fact that it’s known less for efficient internet browsing and more for being an absolute glutton when it comes to the RAM used to keep it up and running. It’s been one of the main complaints laid against the platform and is surely one of the thing’s Google is most aware of when updating the program. Yet while Chrome has gone almost untouched in the browser space for a while now, even beating out Firefox with which it competed for some years, it seems to have been resting on…

No-one likes a delay but sometimes, it’s better to wait a little longer for something that ends up being better than it would have been. Delays are wildly disappointing, especially when they come knocking for one of the most anticipated games of the year. Such is the case with CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, arguably one of the biggest releases of this console generation. Although at this point, one has to wonder if it wouldn’t just be worth waiting to get it on next-gen hardware. CDPR got out there and announced that Cyberpunk 2077, their biggest release since The Witcher 3:…

It’s the hottest new piece of tech for companies to try their hand at actually getting right. While the future of foldable touchscreen smartphones is up for debate, that hasn’t stopped players from throwing their horseshoe for the stake, praying that they somehow manage to hit the target. Where the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip didn’t quite live up to the promise of sleek and fashionable design those trendy influencers are after, Apple has spotted an opportunity to leap into the fray. That is, if the rumours prove to be true. Known leaker (gross, we know)…

You know what’s better than venturing out and forcing loads of Pokémon into tiny little balls to fight for your amusement? Just letting them…be. Watching as they go about their daily routines in the wild and admiring the lovely monsters from a distance, like a trip to a fictional Kruger Park. While you could do something similar to this in the Safari Zone (despite throwing rocks at them, like an absolute piece of scum) the best way to get this kind of Pokémon experience is through Pokémon Snap, a game only released on the N64 and has thus become very difficult…

There’s not really all that much that we, as civillians, can do if a police officer decides to get a little unjustifiably rough with us. Really, the best measure we can employ to protect ourselves is capturing wrong-doings on camera so that we at least have some evidence of the deed that can possibly used in court to hold them accountable. While recording footage like this has never been easier with phones that record in such high quality, pulling up a video camera can be more than a little clumsy in a high stakes situation. Enter a new Siri shortcut.…
