Okay, this is definitely one of the weirdest things we’ve written up in all our years running the website. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and a man you’d definitely invite to a single dinner party and then never talk to again, has announced that his start-up company Neuralink has successfully attached a computer chip implant to the brain of a monkey. Moreover, that chip is allowing the monkey to play simple video games with its mind alone. Which sounds like the embarrassing first draft of a Planet of the Apes reboot but apparently it’s actually a thing that’s happening. Neuralink is…

The soft rustle of LEGO being pushed around a big plastic tub is music to the ears. Whether you’re an energetic ten-year-old dead set on making some unwieldy, badly engineered space ship or you’re an adult who just wants to build that portrait of Darth Maul to mount on your wall, the sound of LEGO is too enticing. That’s why LEGO has made a Spotify playlist that consists of nothing but white noise generated by all those spare bricks they likely have lying around. While we might not necessarily want to fall asleep to the sound of thousands of plastic blocks…
The next Tesla model is about to take automatic cars and make them even more automatic. The new Tesla Model S and Model X (which sound just a little too close to Microsoft’s new-gen Xbox) will automatically shift between “park”, “reverse”, “drive” and “neutral” so you won’t need to ever touch a gear stick again. Which will undoubtedly be extremely uncomfortable for many people the first time they see it action but it also sounds really cool! Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and man who’s doing his best to be the first organic, walking internet meme was making a…
Considering how hard YouTube has been pushing to be taken seriously as a livestreaming service the fact that it took them so long to introduce clips is… weird. Finally, the video sharing platform is testing a new clipping feature to allow viewers to save some their favourite moments in a brief highlight video. It’s a feature that’s been around for some time on Twitch, the largest live-streaming website available, so it makes sense that YouTube is cribbing from their rival’s notes. The actual clips themselves can range anywhere from 5 seconds to 60 seconds long and when they’re saved, they’ll…
Bloober Team is one of the best horror game developers currently working. I’m not bestowing this title upon them because their games are innovative or push the boundaries of the genre, certainly not. However, there’s something to be said about consistency, figuring out what you do well, honing that concept and running with it to the best of your ability. Bloober Team are fantastic at making linear, story-rich horror experiences that might not tax the player with a challenge but always leaves them feeling tense and uncomfortable. Such is the case with The Medium. While this is one of Microsoft’s few…
The Asus ZenBook Duo 14 is a striking laptop when you first open it. When the device is closed, it’s fairly unremarkable yet, when you crack it open and see not one screen but two lighting up to greet you, it’s excessively cool. It’s a moment fueled by a design that intends to provide the best workflow experience possible and on that level the ZenBook Duo 14 exceeds. It’s innovative and shows how Asus is thinking in order to cater to a wider market who might not necessarily want a laptop built for gaming. An unconventional design has proven a hit…
According to Tim Cook, the head honcho over at Apple and a man who seems to embrace the fact that he talks like a background South Park character, the iPhone has an active install base of over 1 billion users. That means roughly a seventh of the world’s entire population currently has one or more iPhones in use which is pretty mind-boggling if you think about it. Given how Apple has long supported older hardware with continuous software updates well past the lifespan of the device, it’s no wonder Apple has managed to maintain such a massive user base. It…
At Stuff, we are big fans of winning things in competitions. It’s just the case that we hardly ever win anything, but hope keeps us going! We’re not allowed to hang out at casinos, can you tell? Just because we don’t win competitions all that often doesn’t mean you can’t. That’s thanks to this new offer by Supersonic, (who upgraded customer’s line speeds last year to help with working from home). The ISP has announced a new competition that sees it partnering with Huawei to give away a fitness bundle to the value of R8,000. It’s a decent little bundle…
When a game consistently makes the player ask, “What the Hell is going on?” there a two possible ways that can go. Either, they’ve been consumed by the story and are shocked at the twists unfolding before them; it’s not uncommon, for example, to ask such questions when playing a Metal Gear Solid entry. Yet there are also games that prompt the question in a way that’s less fun. Left completely in dark as to what is going on, what you’re expected to do and even why you’re playing it in the first place, Balan Wonderworld is one such game. Publisher…
