Stepping on a Lego can suck, but what if you stepped on Lego with Lego. Adidas has unveiled a set of sneakers that can be customised with whatever Lego bricks you have lying around. The shoes, which are an offshoot of the Ultraboost DNA running shoes model, feature a whole load of actual Lego nubs to attach whatever bricks you want. Which is really cool considering you can take whatever colours you want to slap them onto the face of the shoe.
It’s a really cool idea if you’re both a fan of Lego and walking around in what we assume to be a comfortable shoe. It’s officially named the Adidas Ultraboost DNA X Lego Plates, which doesn’t really roll off the tongue but it communicates what it needs to. A fun little video tweeted out by Lego shows off exactly how you can use the clear 2×6 Lego strips to really customise the look of the shoe however you want.

Adidas builds up
So what happens when you combine a rather expensive brand of shoe with a very expensive brand of toy? Well, the outcome is rather obvious: the final product is suuuuuuuuper expensive. The Adidas Ultraboost DNA X Lego Plates currently cost $200, which translates to roughly R2,900 at the time of writing. That’s obviously a heavy amount to pay for a pair of running shoes that you can’t run in because you might lose your Legos. You’ll likely also need to import them, because from what we can see on the local Adidas website, they’re nowhere to be seen.
The Adidas Ultraboost DNA X Lego Plates will be available from 8 April so get those credit cards ready if you want in on these rad sneakers.
