A few short weeks ago, the Garmin Enduro 4 was a rumour known about because of a Russian regulator… Okay, common sense also told us it was coming. Now, following an official announcement, we’ve also got some South African details about the rugged wearable.
At the time of writing, Garmin South Africa hadn’t said anything about the new wearable tracker. Right now, its website helpfully lists the coming price of R20,000. It also claims the device is “coming soon.” Knowing Garmin, it won’t be long before the Enduro 4 is officially here.
Enduro 4 ever
The R20k price tag is a slight uptick from the Enduro 3’s R18,000, which is to be expected. It’s a pity we don’t get the Americans’ Garmin Enduro 4 deal — pricing there is unchanged between generations.
For your money, you can expect up to 90 days of use between charges. The wearable includes solar charging in addition to its lithium-ion battery, but you’ll get unlimited uptime without charging if you use this one as a… well, as a wristwatch. Standard charges in smartwatch mode hold up for more than a month. If you really want to, you’ll burn through the Enduro in just 22 hours, according to the company. That involves activity tracking and music playback.
There’s more RAM (compared to the Enduro 3) and 64GB of storage behind the 1.4in 280 x 280 memory-in-pixel display. Better tracking for some activities has been implemented, and the varied battery performance specs are thanks to a couple of new power modes. You can choose to sacrifice tracking accuracy to keep yourself from charging the watch, if you like.
The Enduro 3’s titanium bezel and reinforced polymer case are sticking around, and the Enduro 4 is just a tiny bit heavier than its predecessor. About all we need right now is a South African launch date. And twenty grand to spare.
