If there were any company you wouldn’t trust to keep an eye on your home, Palantir would probably top the list. A close second might be LG in light of recent events in which it was alleged that LG’s smart TVs are listening in. It’d make sense, then, that Apple would team up with LG to make a whole range of smart home devices.
Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that the two entities were banding together for Apple’s rumoured smart home push. On the menu was a smart doorbell, a smart thermostat, a smart deadbolt lock, a mixture of indoor and outdoor security cameras, plus a floodlight camera. Nothing was confirmed ’til images began to leak.
Home, sweet surveillance
Here’s your first look at home accessories Apple has co-developed with LG. 🧵
1. LG Smart Deadbolt Lock
• The keypad rotates to open. You can use the included swivel pin to limit the rotation on one side so it doesn’t touch a wall.
• Settings for Touchpad Light Ring, Door Left Audio Alarm, and Lock Sound Volume.
• Supports automatic unlocking, tap to unlock, emergency power and master codes.
• Fits 2.375 in (60.3 mm) and 2.75 in (69.9 mm) brackets.
• Comes with 2 mechanical keys.— pdfu (@itspdfu) October 7, 2026
A leaker by the name of @itspdfu on X corroborated Bloomberg’s report, though only for a couple of devices. Namely, the smart lock, thermostat, and temperature sensor. They posted images and specs, too, giving credence to the rumour that a wave of Apple- and LG-made devices is on the horizon.
The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, as it’s known, features a rotating keypad. It supports automatic unlocking — assuming it detects your smartphone — and tap-to-unlock, with backup power for when load shedding strikes. The device ships with two mechanical keys, according to the leaker.

The LG Smart Thermostat is more of an American thing, offering settings for humidity, brightness, and language selection. It looks… like a thermostat. More interesting is the LG Temperature Sensor that’ll sit idly by and capture everything you say report on your home’s temperature. It’ll attach to anything magnetic, it seems.
All of those will ship under LG’s branding instead of Apple’s. The same reportedly goes for the rest of the product line, all of which could be unveiled as soon as 13 October. They’re expected to be joined by other Apple-branded products, like a new Apple TV and a Home Hub that has been years in the making.
