Samsung has been talking up its smart glasses for ages. Now, there’s a date attached to the release of the joint partnership with Google. A report from South Korea reckons the company has picked this November for the launch of its AI-toting eyewear.
The report, via the Korea Herald, believes the South Korean company is launching with Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta in mind. That’s who Samsung sees as its largest competitor in this space. That’s not an inaccurate assessment, since Meta’s Ray-Ban partnership has popularised the tech — even if it’s only tangentially useful for the average user.
AI, Samsung
According to the report, an unnamed company official has confirmed the November 2026 launch window with the Korea Herald. Pricing and an exact date aren’t known yet, but the timing lines up with Samsung’s previous behaviour. The company tends to announce its most experimental launches — like the recent and very limited tri-fold smartphone — towards the end of the year.
The report also gives the glasses a new title — “Intelligent Eyewear.” On one hand, it’s simply a synonym for ‘smart glasses’; on the other, it’s just specific enough that Samsung can file for copyright protection. The glasses won’t include any sort of display, but there will be cameras and microphones. All the better for AI to help you with your voice-activated queries. Samsung says that the eyewear will include LEDs that show when its recording functions are working.
Odds are, with Google backing the launch of the new Android XR-based specs, that Samsung will have an actual launch event. It’s not like the glasses have been hiding over the past few months. The brand partnerships with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker are already known, as is the extensive Gemini AI integration.
