Honor’s Robot Phone has been kicking around for some time, though the Chinese brand has remained secretive about most of the device. The coolest bits are already known, of course. The smartphone will ship with a fold-out camera that tucks away when not in use, making it a little like an Osmo Pocket.
The other details? Those have been less available, until now. Leaks from China (where else?) reveal the phone’s screen, processor, and camera lens details. There’s also a hint that this one will be pricey… but we all knew that was coming.

Chinese leaker DigitalChatStation has a fair record when it comes to the Chinese market. When he says that the Honor Robot Phone will feature a 6.3in to 6.4in front display with a 1.5K resolution, it’s worth believing. The ‘1.5K’ bit is marketing fluff for companies who want to make their products look better, of course, but since there’s an actual robotic arm in this thing, it’s probably allowed.
The phone’s processor is also defined, though it’s not given in definite terms. Users can expect a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 to power the whole setup. But it’s probably the cameras that most folks are interested in.
The main robotic camera — the bit in the gimbal — is supposedly a 200MP f/1.6 23mm effort. It’s bolstered by a 50MP ultrawide and a 200MP periscope telephoto, the specs of which are not quite so detailed. Finally, pricing is “expected to be high”. That final bit seems obvious, given that Honor is sticking a gimbal inside a smartphone for the first time.
The Honor Robot Phone is supposedly set for launch in August this year. That’ll likely be a China-only announcement before (possibly) going global.
