It’s been a busy day at Huawei HQ. In addition to the new phones and watches, we got to see the company’s new take on smart, AI-powered specs. We first caught wind of Huawei’s new wearable back in January, toting translation features, and now they’re finally official. Enter the Huawei AI Glasses.
Meant to take on Meta’s Ray-Ban and Oakley line-up (and nearly every other big tech company), these follow Huawei’s Smart Glasses 2, released only a year ago. They’re available in three different looks. Titanium Silver Gray, which offers a half-rim shape, while Shimmering Silver and Modern Black offer a complete rim design.
Huawei’s back in the race
All three include a titanium frame, like the Smart Glasses 2 sibling, but Huawei reckons it’s shifted things around to distribute the weight more evenly. Weighing just 35.5 grams, they beat out Meta’s lightest 48g efforts considerably. An IP54 rating should keep ’em safe from the sweatier hogs around town. The 258mAh battery promises twelve hours of life, once again taking the fight to Meta’s wearables, which tap out at around eight hours.
Getting their smarts from a proprietary AI chip that uses dual-engine architecture, the glasses are all in on AI. An on-device AI assistant can be summoned with a simple button press or voice commands. It should filter out background noise well with a super-sensitive triple-mic array, picking up voices from as low as 47dB. It’s also fitted with a half-decent 12MP camera, simplifying the content creator lifestyle dramatically.

That’ll lead to videos being captured in 30fps at a resolution of 1,920 x 1,440, while images are captured at 4,092 x 3,072. HDR Vivid Standard is also supported, while Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) automatically corrects images and videos if the wearer’s head is slightly tilted. Low-light mode does what you’d expect. All of the captures will be automatically dumped to the connected smartphone for easy viewing.
Rounding out the specs is 64GB of storage, Bluetooth 6 and Wi-Fi 6 support, wear detection, and touch controls. Huawei isn’t letting its AI Glasses go for cheap, either. It’s charging ¥2,500 (∼R6,000) for the grey and black variants, while the Shimmery Silver colourway ups that to ¥2,900 (∼R7,000). They’ll go on sale on 25 April in China, though there’s no telling when (or even if) South Africa will get a turn to play.
