Last month, Huawei revealed that it has a new running watch waiting in the wings. It’s expected to detail it this week, but a teaser for the Watch GT Runner 2 — the name is now confirmed — shows off a bit of what the Chinese company plans to unveil on 26 February.
The company has yet to show the actual hardware itself, instead releasing a short video with marathon runner and device consultant Eliud Kipchoge. It’s a proper teaser, promising detailed running expertise in the upcoming smartwatch while giving almost nothing away.

Still, it’s a step in the right direction (the track is thataway). Huawei’s UK YouTube account shows off a little more, even if it’s only the upcoming Marathon Mode. A brief video shows what the Watch GT Runner 2’s iconography will look like on the display. It’s possible that the animations shown will actually appear as represented, but it looks to us like it was amped up for social media/advertising purposes. There’s a level of whimsy there you don’t often find in mass-market software.
Also coming to Huawei’s 26 February reveal in Madrid this year are the Band 11 Pro (and the Band 11). Much of the Band 11’s details we already know. The company’s new Mate 80 Pro, FreeBuds Pro 5, and MatePad Mini are also expected to make an appearance. We should see… two out of three here at home, if we were to guess.
