One of the most requested features from WhatsApp is scheduled messages, no question about it. Somehow, this pretty basic feature that other messaging apps have taken for granted this past decade has eluded WhatsApp engineers thus far. No longer, it seems. WABetaInfo reports that ‘Scheduled Messages’ are nearly ready.
“Got it. This article will go live on 12 October 2026”

First spotted in early testing back in February, the return of Scheduled Messages to the beta programme is significant. It means Meta’s messenger is still in development, even if it hasn’t been announced in an official capacity to the public. A few beta testers have since received the new functionality, meaning a wider release is likely near.
When it arrives, scheduling a message will be easy enough to do. After typing the message in the chat interface, the user must tap and hold the Send button to bring up a schedule timer. Select your desired time and date, and WhatsApp will do the rest. Even if the app is closed, WABetaInfo points out.

There are some limitations. Users can schedule links, images, and even videos — but no more than one image or video in the same scheduled message, necessitating multiple such messages. Group chats will also support the feature, but only users who were part of the group at the time of the message’s creation will receive it.
Beta testers on the Android 2.26.40.7 update can test whether they’re included in this first drop starting today. More beta testers will receive the update in the coming weeks, before WhatsApp gets it ready for the public.
