Collectors’ editions are just a thing that game developers do. Cyberpunk 2077′s fifth anniversary release (it’s been that long?) is a decent crack at making re-buying the game attractive. Of course, it’ll help if you’re an American. Or a Canadian. Everyone else, though? Not yet.
Which is a pity, because we’d love to tuck the game’s Relic biochip, canonically made by Arasaka and instrumental in player interactions with Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand, onto a shelf overlooking the TV. Sadly, though, the release is confined to the North America region for now.
Go ahead Cyberpunk, make my day
Included in Cyberpunk 2077‘s limited edition re-release is the Relic chip, a few Tarot cards tied to the game, a USB drive, a couple of pins, and a steel case that everything is packed inside. Since most folks who might be keen on this probably already own the game, it’s available on its own. The price? R2,350, or $145.
There seem to be plans for versions with a physical copy of the game included, which brings the price to R3,050 ($190). Microsoft’s Xbox range, the Sony PlayStation 5, and Nintendo’s Switch 2 will get discs or cartridges, while PC players get a Steam code instead of physical media.
Cyberpunk 2077 had a pretty rocky start, especially on older platforms and hardware, but CD Projekt managed an admirable turnaround for the open-world action RPG. So much so that you can now buy themed XR glasses, which would look extremely good on that shelf next to the Relic chip.
