Right around the time Samsung South Africa debuted the latest Galaxy A Series in April this year, it brought SOS+ with it — a subscription-based 24/7 emergency service that’ll get to you whenever you need help. There was just one problem; it was exclusive to the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26. Now, that’s changing.

Samsung SA has finally corrected course by expanding the service to its customers with some extra cash in their pockets. Owners of the South Korean outfit’s entire Galaxy S25 family (including the S25 Edge and S25FE), as well as a couple of its more recent foldables, namely the Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE.
“In an emergency, Samsung SOS+ instantly geolocates the user and dispatches the nearest private security or medical response unit. Access is simple and intuitive, and users can trigger support through the ICE (In Case of Emergency) list, the app, SMS, or a toll-free number,” Samsung said.
If you want the peace of mind knowing that emergency services are only minutes away, regardless of your location, you’ll need one of those devices we mentioned. Specifically, a new one purchased (pre- and post-paid contracts count, too) anytime between 1 November and 31 January 2026 to get twelve months “free” access. What you’ll be charged once the year is up, the company hasn’t said. That’s next year’s problem, we guess.
According to Hypertext, pricing is set to be roughly R30/m for those with compatible devices, though Samsung SA’s VP, Justin Hume, reckons the company is always on the lookout for solutions to bring that figure down, and get the service in as many hands as possible. Let’s see if it can stick to that come 2026.
