We’re used to seeing Honor’s X9-series phones in South Africa, but the newly official X9e Pro is the first of the series to carry the ‘Pro’ suffix. A look at the specs shows why Honor is talking this one up. The battery is absolutely massive.
The rest of the internals are acceptably mid-range, with a few dalliances in the premium price bracket for the X9e Pro. This isn’t the only phone from Honor to add a new suffix, either. There’s an Honor X7e Plus also bound for Africa that we should see here at some point. That one doesn’t quite have an 11,000mAh battery, however.
X9e sports Pro capacity
11,000mAh is no small amount of capacity, potentially keeping you away from the wall charger for multiple days at a time. Of course, you could also hammer the Honor X9e Pro harder than on previous models while retaining the daily charge schedule. Either way, there’s a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 inside the phone, sending information to Honor’s 6.8in 2,788 × 1,280 AMOLED. Honor’s claiming a maximum brightness of 10,000 nits for the latter, but it’ll usually sit around 2,000.
There’s a little skulduggery involved with the phone’s RAM allocations. Honor is pitching 24GB of RAM, but only 8GB of that will be physical. The remaining 16GB is “Honor RAM Turbo,” or virtual RAM. But at least there are 256GB and 512GB storage options to choose from.
On the camera front, the rear sensors are a pair — a 108MP main and a 5MP wide-angle. We’re guessing that you’ll spend more time with the larger sensor. The f/1.7 setup also features optical image stabilisation. The front camera is a 16MP f/2.4.
The Honor X9e Pro is fully waterproof, from IP68 to IP69K, while Gorilla Glass Victus 2 handles the other part of the durability equation. That massive lithium-polymer battery supports 80W fast charging. It’ll probably take a shade longer to refill than you’re expecting, even at that speed, just because the battery is so much bigger than usual.
Our only remaining question about the phone is: When will it get here? The X9e Pro has launched in Malaysia, but we expect it to make its way to the African continent soon enough. The last version arrived at the beginning of this year, but we might see the X9e Pro pitch up before the end of 2026.
