If you were worried about missing out on Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry later this month, don’t. Canal+ today confirmed it had secured the live broadcasting rights to all four test matches between the Springboks and All Blacks, which will officially kick off on Saturday, 22 August before coming to a close on Saturday, 12 September.
A busy month for rugby fans
“CANAL+ has continued to demonstrate its investment in local sport and entertainment content and Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry is another feather in our cap in terms of bringing sports content that matters to viewers and subscribers,” said MultiChoice Group CEO, David Mignot.
Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry isn’t opening its doors to just any DStv customer. You’ll want to grab a subscription to DStv Premium in order to get access. At the time of writing, a streaming-only Premium package will set you back R800/m — or R700/m if you sign up for a twelve-month contract. Decoder customers will pay R980/m.

Once DStv’s on the payroll, you’ll find the matches on channels 201 and 211. DStv will also broadcast four provincial matches between the All Blacks and SA’s local teams. The DHL Stormers will play on 7 August, the Hollywoodbets Sharks on 11 August, the Vodacom Bulls on 15 August, and the Lions on 25 August.
It’s worth noting that the agreement isn’t only for interested Saffas. Canal+ confirmed that Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry would be broadcast across its ‘Rest of Africa’ market on both DStv and GOtv.
