Soundcore makes some pretty cool tech, but the upcoming Liberty 5 Pro and 5 Pro Max headphones have outdone any earbuds the company has launched before. Both sets of buds come standard with displays in their cases, an increasingly trendy addition to the product type. We can probably expect more brands to follow suit in the coming months.
But if you can’t wait that long, the Liberty 5 Pro family will give you all manner of updates on your earbuds case in the meantime. There are also AI features coming. You can’t launch anything in 2026 without artificial intelligence. Google won’t like it.
Give me Liberty 5
Whichever of Soundcore’s newest buds you choose, they’ll feature the company’s 9.2mm drivers. These support Dolby Atmos, and both Liberty 5 Pro models also include an eight-microphone array. Calls, dictation, and noise-cancelling should all benefit. Dictation in particular needs the upgrade, because of the aforementioned AI smarts.
At least, that’s the case with the 5 Pro Max, which includes a so-called AI Voice Recorder. Guess what that does? If you guessed ‘records, summarises, and transcribes, while separating different speakers,’ well done. How did you manage to get all that on one go?
If you’re just here for the audio features, both variants use Adaptive ANC 4.0, spatial audio (handled by Dolby), and Soundcore’s HearID 5.0. tech. The AMOLED touchscreens on the 5 Pro and 5 Pro Max can be used to tweak these features without opening the app. You’ll also be able to control audio tracks via the casing, though the Pro Max has a larger AMOLED to play with.
Soundcore’s Liberty 5 Pro and Pro Max are now out overseas, but local pricing and availability aren’t known yet. We’ve already seen the Liberty 4 Pro in South Africa. The sequel is also likely to arrive… at some point.
