Apple does it every year, so there’s no reason why Huawei can’t. We’re referring, of course, to an annual developer conference. The Chinese brand has just locked down the dates for its own outing, referred to as HDC. There’s a slight crossover with 2026’s WWDC, but Huawei, being on the other side of the world, can probably pull it off.
Huawei’s newest developments
HDC will run from 12 to 14 June this year, slightly encroaching on Apple’s spotlight. As with most software conferences, we’re not expecting much in the way of product reveals. If anything is lurking, Huawei is keeping it a surprise for attendees.
The company has said what’s on the menu, software-wise, however. The highlights are a new version of its HarmonyOS operating system, likely HarmonyOS 7, as well as the company’s HarmonyOS AI developments. There are a few other announcements, but they’re probably more interesting to actual developers than the folks who use the company’s devices.
Huawei has come a long way since it was unceremoniously kicked out of the Android club. At the time, Stuff thought that competing with Android and iOS was a doomed-to-failure effort. Yet, seven years later, HarmonyOS has emerged with a solid identity of its own. And more than a little side-loading, but it seems the company’s fans are getting used to that.
