Honor is launching a new pair of headphones in its native China. That’s the reason you haven’t heard of the Choice Codeler Headphones, let alone the newly announced Choice Codeler Headphones 2. Still, given what the company is building into these, we hope to see them here sooner rather than later.
The biggest drawcard, which gets even more impressive once you see the features of the Choice 2 over-ears, is the projected price. They would sell, locally, somewhere around the R1,000 to R1,500 mark. How good could these cans really be?
Codeler of Honor
The Choice Codeler Headphones 2 overs certainly look the part of a semi-premium set of overs. We’ve seen similar designs from far more expensive audio hardware, so getting this for a steep discount is very appealing. Honor offers buyers 40mm drivers, active noise cancelling that’ll stomp on up to 57dB of external sound, and a very extensive battery. They’ll run nonstop for up to 70 hours, or almost two full workweeks if you’re a normal human being. A ten-minute charge will apparently add another eight hours of listening to the tank.
What you might not expect for a thousand bucks or so is support for spatial audio and head tracking. You’re probably also not expecting LDAC, AAC, and SBC support. Bluetooth Multipoint and 6.0 are included, as is support for Hi-Res Audio Wireless. If you’re really, truly out of juice, it’s possible to use the Codeler 2 cans wired.
What’s missing, and we’re honestly not surprised, are touch controls. It’s all physical, but if Honor is planning to give listeners all this other stuff instead (plus a case to store the cans in), that’s a fair exchange. The tricky bit is buying a pair. As we mentioned, they’re available in China already. There are no signs of an international launch anywhere at this point.
