Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge was launched last year in response to competitors having thinner phones on the market, but the Galaxy S26 Edge might never happen. The reasons why aren’t given, but there’s only really one that would prompt Samsung to drop the hammer so quickly. The S25 Edge may not have sold that well.
The company hasn’t said as much, though multiple outlets have said that sales weren’t up to scratch. Now, a report out of Korea reckons that the S26 Edge is going away. This is on the say-so of an unnamed Samsung executive who doesn’t seem hopeful about the line’s future.
Slicing off the S26 Edge
The unnamed executive is quoted as saying, “I don’t know if the slim line will come back, but it doesn’t look easy at the moment…I think you can consider it to have essentially disappeared.”
‘Disappeared’ might not be strictly accurate, at least next year. Samsung has also reportedly already completed development of the S25 Edge’s successor, so it might see a release at some point under a new title. After that, though… super-slim phones with underperforming batteries are probably off the menu, at least from Samsung’s workshops.
It’s not like we’ll miss much. South Africa took quite some time to lay its hands on the Galaxy S25 Edge, which currently retails for R25,000. The slimmed design doesn’t seem to make up for stripped-back features and high relative price, with the South Korean company reportedly only shipping 1.3 million units of the S25 Edge since launch. By comparison, the lowest mainline S25, the Galaxy S25 Plus, shipped 5 million units in the same period.
Ah, well. It was nice skinny while it lasted.
