The anticipated iPhone SE 4 will reportedly eschew the old notch look in favour of the immensely more awesome Dynamic Island, which first got its start on the iPhone 14 Pro. Apple’s cheaper alternative to the flagship iPhone is finally looking to compete in the midrange market it has ignored for years and is now dominated by Android.
Apple throws back the Dynamic Island

Reputable leaker Evan Blass shared screenshots of what looks to be the official visual assets for the upcoming iPhone SE 4, iPad Air M3, and iPad 11. From these pics, it seems the iPhone SE 4 will rock a pill-shaped Dynamic Island rather than ye olde notch, resulting in a device that will resemble a slightly slicker iPhone 15.
Considering this budget iPhone could have Apple Intelligence support, a USB-C port, an edge-to-edge display, and an iPhone 16 chipset – all at a sub-R9,327 ($500) budget, this new model could be highly enticing to Android users, particularly if the SE 4 can hold onto the camera quality that makes Apple such a force to be reckoned with. If it can effectively balance all these features, it’ll likely be more future-proof than most Android phones in its price range.

Adding a Dynamic Island may be a risky choice, however. Some may lament the loss of those few extra percentages of screen space and find it distracting, especially those migrating exclusively from low-end Androids. Others might appreciate the extra notification room and well-hidden Face ID sensors.
There’s still no word on when Apple might finally introduce the SE 4 to the world, but the latest rumours point toward a release alongside the iPad Air M3 and 11th-gen iPad, currently lined up for March/April, if you believe the rumours.
