September is good for two things. Spring, obviously, and giving Apple another excuse to progress its capitalist regime even further by taking off the wrapper of its latest iPhone. This year, that’ll be the iPhone 16, and judging by the official Apple YouTube channel, it’ll take place on Monday, 9 September at, surprise surprise – 19h00.
Hey, we at least got something right. It was initially believed that Apple had laid the groundwork for a Tuesday, 10 September reveal after Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman ran with the story. Considering Gurman’s reliability in the field, we’re still inclined to believe Apple’s intentions to announce the Watch Series 10 and refreshed AirPods.
Basking in it
It’ll feature the tagline “It’s Glowtime” – whatever that means. This is the bit where we spent five minutes attempting to dream up a witty enough insult to shame Apple’s marketing department before realising most of the hard work’s been done for us. Apple’s website hints that some sort of Siri rework is headed our way but beyond that… your guess is as good as ours.
Maybe that last bit isn’t true. Gurman’s report has at least offered us a rough idea of what to expect before the show is over. The meat of the presentation involves unwrapping the iPhone 16 and its Pro and Pro Max buddies, before moving on to the Watch Series 10 and refreshing its series of AirPods – the first in 5 years for the ‘budget’ model.

Should the rumours hold until their unveiling, we’ll see an iPhone 16 with an updated A18 Bionic chipset, refreshed camera array, larger display, and most importantly, a new Action Button that’ll reportedly be a dedicated snapper.
Devices are expected to start shipping as early as the following week in the US – Friday, 20 September – while South Africans will likely only get their hands on the newcomers the following Friday, 27 September.
