Apple does love a good surprise, even if sometimes it’s not very surprising. The company has confirmed that there’s one more thing headed our way this year. What that is, exactly, will be unveiled at a 30 October event. The tagline for the outing? ‘Scary Fast’.
Which, based on the date, makes perfect sense. Odds are we’ll see Tim Cook dressed as Bill Gates (or maybe Tom Hanks) if there’s room for levity at the Apple campus this late in the year. It’s far more likely we’ll be bombarded by spooky puns and references to the new chipset the company may or may not reveal.
Bobbing for Apple
We’ve actually got more detail on what Apple is doing next year than what to expect from the company in the next few days but, as always, someone’s got a few educated guesses. Mark Gurman claimed, before Apple made its thing official, that there would be a surprise October event. Since he was right about that, odds are his other spot of speculation is correct. A new iMac, as well as refreshed MacBook Pro models, might be on the menu for this outing.
It suits… well, everything. The event is being held at 17h00 Pacific Time (which is at 02H00 on 31 October here in South Africa), which plays into the ‘scary’ aspect of ‘Scary Fast’. These models would also be the perfect platform for the company to unveil its new M3 range of processors, which would take (s)care of the other half of the equation. Why else would the company be talking about speed if it didn’t have something new to show off?
Apple’s event will take place very early on Tuesday, 31 October here in South Africa. It’ll be broadcast on all of the usual channels, including YouTube and Twitter.
