What’s something you could do at Woolworths or Pick n Pay in South Africa that you couldn’t pull off at Checkers? Besides executing a perfect kickflip in the hardware aisle (they’re too narrow at Checkers), you couldn’t use the power of Discovery Vitality to get cash back for your healthier food items. That, obviously, is about to change.
Quite the Discovery
Discovery Vitality’s HealthyFood benefit has been formally extended to both Checkers stores and orders via Checkers Sixty60. That works the same way it has with other stores up to this point but there’s a new wrinkle in there. Since there are more options, Vitality members can select a preferred venue — both in-store and online — for extra benefits.
And, in a bid to get you to switch over to the company’s banking service, Discovery Bank users will net up to 75% from eligible purchases. That’s quite a jump from the standard 25% that plain old Vitality members get.
Vitality CEO Dinesh Govender said, “We are delighted to add Checkers to encourage even more Discovery Vitality members to make healthy food choices. Vitality’s HealthyFood benefit has been rewarding positive behaviour change for almost fifteen years.”
The change isn’t going to be immediate, though it is coming soon(ish). The changes to Vitality’s HealthyFood benefit will begin in late 2024. Also coming to the service in 2024 is Vitality Fitness, which allows members to locate and book exercise classes.
