BritBox joins the DStv lineup for an extra R100/m

After two years of availability in South Africa, BritBox is now officially available as part of DStv‘s bouquet of streamers, joining Showmax and Disney+. This is a result of a joint venture between South Africa’s MultiChoice Group and the UK’s BBC Studios and ITV. Before you get excited, all this means for you is Britbox’s app is now available to download on the DStv Streama and an add-to-bill subscription for the DStv Explora Ultra decoder.

A good deal, innit?

The local broadcaster’s website is promoting the launch of the new service across the front page. You can try it out in a 7-day free trial, and pay R100/m thereafter – the same price as the standalone service.

As for the content… well, a month-long subscription should give customers plenty of time to watch the original (and infinitely better) The Office. Judging by the website, DStv is attempting to lure users in with shows like Sister Boniface Mysteries, Keeping Up Appearances, Blackadder and My Family. Let us know how that goes, will you?

According to DStv’s website, adding BritBox to an account is as simple as giving them a call, or shooting a message to the broadcaster’s WhatsApp line with the message “add BritBox” at 060 060 3788 and following the instructions that follow.

While this new development won’t mean much to anyone that’s already ditched their DStv subscription, statistically, there has to be at least one person who can’t wait to sign up.
