Fitbit has three new devices on the way, something for everyone

After Fitbit’s last wearable, the Charge 5 – it’s been a bit quiet over at the newly Google-owned fitness company. That’s no longer the case, after the reveal of three new devices, adding to the already vast collection of wearables Fitbit has on the shelf. All three are continuations of previous models, updating some of the older hardware stuck inside. They’ve also been given some Google tech to make them a little smarter.
Introducing the Inspire 3, Versa 4 and the Sense 2.
What are you looking for?
If you’re more of a fitness-only person, you may be interested in the Inspire 3. Unlike the Versa 4 and Sense 2, the Inspire is a fitness tracker strictly speaking. It will tell you the time, but it won’t let you check your calendar. It’s looking to be one of Fitbit’s most affordable entry-level trackers, with all sorts of fancy sensors to keep you going. It manages to keep itself alive for 10 days, dispelling the worry of load shedding from your mind. It features a body quite similar to that of its predecessor, just slightly more rounded and curvy.
We don’t know much more just yet, other than the price and release date. Starting at R2,500, the Inspire 3 will be available at all major retailers around South Africa from 15 September.
Vice-Versa
Following in the footsteps of its little brother, the Versa 4 is a little more than just a fitness tracker. It’s a smartwatch with fitness in mind, featuring over 40 exercise modes, a built-in GPS and Active Zone Minutes. We don’t know what kind of battery life this thing will have, though we can expect it to have a slightly longer or similar life to the Versa 3 (12 hours). Body-wise, it doesn’t look that different to the Versa 3 model. It’s more rounded (we’re sensing a pattern here) to give a cleaner look.
Coming a little later than the Inspire 3, we’ll see the Versa 4 hit shelves on 29 September. It has a starting price of R5,700 and will be available at all major retailers in South Africa.
Here it is folks; Fitbit’s most advanced smartwatch to date – the Sense 2. It features a battery life that can last a couple of days, similar to that of the original Sense. It can even tell you when something is wrong with your heart before you know it, detecting signs of atrial fibrillation through Fitbit’s ECG app. Alongside that, it monitors heart rate variability and skin temperature. There’s also the addition of the Body Response sensor, the first continuous on-wrist EDA sensor (for stress management).
The Sense 2 is joining the Versa 4 for a 29 September release date. Unfortunately, it won’t be sharing the same price point. The Sense 2 will be available for R7,500 at all major retailers around the country.
