When your tech breaks, you don’t want to wait forever to get it back. LG‘s new premium service centre, launched today in Gauteng, hopes to keep that wait short. The new facility is based at the company’s relatively new Johannesburg offices in Midrand.
The company’s new centre is built around speedy repairs of TVs, microwaves, washing machines, and fridges. The company says that thanks to onsite parts, it hopes to turn some repairs around in an hour or so. That appears to be more a target than a promise, but it’s still good to know that the company has speed in mind.
Getting your LG fix
LG hopes that its new centre will shorten wait times for busted and mistreated appliances. Dedicated areas for TVs, microwaves and washing machine repairs are set aside, with frequently-needed parts also on hand. There’s a greater warehouse section that Stuff didn’t get to explore that hosts some of the more unusual bits.
LG says that it’s able to dispatch parts to where they’re needed within 24 hours, which should see speedier turnarounds in places that aren’t quite as well appointed. But it’s not just an improved layout for its technicians. There’s also a little customer-oriented space, which doubles as a product showcase.
Up front is an area where customers can wait, either while their product is repaired or, more likely, while a repaired product is checked and brought forward. The space also includes a batch of LG products. These are intended to be fiddled with, in the hopes that customers will realise that their home needs one of these.
Coming soon to that section, and to the country as a whole, is the LG Styler. This is a steam closet, or a home dry-cleaning service if you prefer more descriptive terms.
