Apple’s first event of 2022 is set for 8 March, offers a glimpse at “Peek Performance”

Accessibility

We’ve been expecting it, now it’s official. Apple has set a time and date for its first event of the year. “Peek Performance” is the name of the game, because the company’s pun writers never miss an opportunity. When can we expect to get a peek at this? 8 March, at 20:00 South African Standard Time.

Peek Apple

What can we expect to find at Apple’s event? That’s less certain than usual because the company’s being more obtuse than expected. But it’s a strong bet that there’s a new iPhone SE on the way. There’s also, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, a new iPad Air heading to market.

The new iPhone SE is expected to land with updated internals. A new processor is a given, and Apple might make the jump to 5G for the handset too. It’s also possible that there’s a lower-cost version of the handset in the offing. We’re not sure how Apple would work that one out, but it would sell like… look, they’d just sell a ton of them, okay?

The iPad Air refresh should, according to rumour, also include a new processor and 5G support. There’s also talk of the company introducing a few new MacBook models. This is far from confirmed, though. Most chatter has new notebooks from the brand arriving ‘as early as March’. That’s a little less definite than we’d like when making predictions. ‘Peek Performance’ might refer to us getting a look at the company’s new notebook processors, though.

Apple’s event will be live-streamed basically everywhere, as is the company’s won’t. It’ll be on Twitter, YouTube, the company’s own website, and pretty much anywhere else with a screen and an internet connection. Stuff is keeping an eye on proceedings as usual, so tune in if you want the short and awesome version.
