Make WhatsApp Stickers on its web app now

whatsapp

Stickers are nothing new. Back in the 90s, children kept ‘em in dedicated sticker books. Now they’re more… digital. And WhatsApp’s rolling out the ability to make your own personalised stickers on its web application.

Three years ago the Meta-owned messaging platform introduced the ability to create personalised stickers via its iOS and Android apps. The feature’s never been available on desktop, however, even though it did gain third-party sticker support a year ago.

Want to swap stickers?

WhatsApp’s built-in Sticker Maker allows users to turn ordinary images into stickers that you can use to fill up your friend and family chats. To make a sticker, head over to the web app (that’s the one in the browser, not the desktop app… yet). Once you’re there, hit the paperclip (bottom left) in a chat, and choose the newly-added ‘Sticker’ option.

Here you’ll have the ability to upload an image from your computer’s drive, after which you’ll be greeted with a variety of editing options. You can cut it out, add sparkles, text, emoji, more stickers and muck it up on your own time. Not everyone’s a designer, we get it. No one’ll judge you.

While there are a variety of third-party sticker apps available, it’s nice to have the feature natively in WhatsApp for users. According to sources, the feature will come to the desktop version of the app next week — so hold out a bit if that’s your go-to platform.
