Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 4 land in SA from R19,000

In 2020, South Africans were finally able to purchase Microsoft hardware in South Africa, starting with its Surface Laptop 3 and the Surface Go 2. It was initially a slim lineup, only including a few notebooks and 2-in-1s. Now, the company has revealed that it’s bringing the Surface Laptop 4 to SA at a recommended retail price of R19,000.

“We are excited to add Surface Laptop 4 to our growing Surface range locally. It powers modern multitasking demands, and combines a vibrant touchscreen display, large trackpad with gesture support and an industry-leading typing experience,” says Colin Erasmus, the modern workplace and security business group lead at Microsoft South Africa.

Not all on the Surface

These come in two customisable flavours: AMD or Intel. The former is fitted with an AMD Ryzen mobile processor with Radeon graphics (8-cores), while the latter’s an 11th Gen Intel Core processor.

In addition, there’s the Surface’s signature 3:2 resolution PixelSense touchscreen display in either 13.5in or 15in, depending on your preference.  Personalisation doesn’t end there, apparently, and these also come in either Alcantara or metal finishes in a few cool colours.

The Surface Laptop 4 will be available from Vodacom as a contract option that’ll cost you just R945p/m. If you’re keener on paying cash, it’ll cost you anything from R19,000 depending on the spec you opt for — and that’s from Incredible Connection.

At the base price, you’ll bag a 13in display, Ryzen 5 4680U CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. At the higher-end, you’ll get a 15in display, Intel Core i7 1185G7, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD for a whopping R33,000.
