MultiChoice cuts DStv Premium streaming prices

DStv app updates

MultiChoice and its broadcasting service, DStv, have caught flack in the past for their price-to-product ratio. In short, when stacked against some of the competition, their offerings aren’t particularly great in terms of value for money.

MultiChoice is working to rectify that a little. An upcoming ‘Flex’ package turned up back in September and it is currently offering a limited promotion on its DStv Premium streaming package.

DStv discount

A Premium subscription normally costs R829 a month, and gives you access to 135+ channels (no decoder required), DStv Box Office, and Showmax, across up to 4 devices. MultiChoice is cutting that down to R699 for new subscribers.

There’s a bit of a catch here, or maybe a caveat. This promotion only applies to the first three months of a new subscription. Every month after this you’ll be billed the full R829. Sneaky, sneaky.

If you want to cancel before that happens, make sure to do so at least five days prior to your billing date. Any later and you’ll have to wait another month, which must be paid for in full.

DStv subscribers can only have one promotion active on a particular subscription at any given point, so this won’t stack with some other deal that rocks up later on.

You can, however, have multiple subscriptions on one MultiChoice account that take advantage of this promotion, say if you want DStv Premium streaming on more than 4 devices.

It’s worth noting that while you can cancel your subscription or downgrade so that the promotion no longer applies before its three-month offer is over, you can’t pick it up again if you re-subscribe.

This deal is available to new subscribers who grab it before the 14th of January next year.
