If you’re building a gaming setup, or you’re really into the RGB-fad, you’ll absolutely adore Asus’ ROG Strix GS-AX5400 WiFi 6 router. It’s the first ROG-branded networking hardware launched by the company, and it lives up to the well-known gaming brand’s name.
It’s a dual-band GS-AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) gaming router and it does exactly what it aims to do — offer ultra-fast internet connectivity tailored for gamers.
Little RGB box
It also comes in an asymmetric shape, allowing for a slightly more interesting thing to look at than most routers. Along the front panel, it’s got that one thing gamers can’t get enough of — Controllable Aura RGB lighting. If you’re so inclined, you can set up the RGB rights to match your gaming rig.
The Wi-Fi 6 functionality offers connectivity speeds of up to 5400Mbps when used with 160MHz channels. This also allows for specific device prioritisation via the Gear Accelerator dedicated ethernet port in the online control panel. Just like other Asus networking hardware, the ROG Strix router can be set up and tweaked via the Asus Router app.
In the app, users can easily tinker with certain settings to make their gaming (or streaming) experience better. This includes options for adaptive QoS that allows you to analyse traffic and prioritise game packets and the ability for mobile users to tweak on the go.
You also get all of the good stuff expected from a range-topping gaming router, like a bunch of VPN settings, gigabit Ethernet and Asus AI Mesh support.
