While Android-centric smartphone makers are certainly looking at wireless charging options for their products, until now they hadn’t come up with anything like Apple’s MagSafe wireless magnetic charger. Realme, a self-proclaimed “emerging mobile phone brand”, has a new flagship on the way, and you’ll be able to charge it magnetically.

Realme’s magnet magic

The new flagship, dubbed the Realme Flash, was leaked by GSMArena and confirmed later by the company’s official Twitter account. It will hit shelves debuting the new MagDart wireless magnetic charger.

All of the specs on the MagDart are still mostly unknown, but here’s what’s been uncovered so far. The charger is a lot blockier and a fair bit chunkier than its Apple counterpart. It clips onto the back of the Realme Flash and pumps out power at a currently unknown wattage, though GSMArena managed to dig up that it will be upwards of 15W and will be the fastest magnetic charger out there when it launches. Watch out, Apple.

Also unlike Apple’s charger, the MagDart will use a separate USB-C cable to get its power. The MagSafe’s cable is built in. We’re also hoping it doesn’t fry pacemakers too

That’s all for the charger. The smartphone itself doesn’t look like anything to sniff at either. It will launch packing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. It’s also got a very Android-y curved screen interrupted only by a thin bezel and a punch hole for the front cam, the specs of which we don’t know. Ditto for the triple-lens camera array at the back. While we can’t pass judgement without knowing everything, it certainly looks powerful enough so far.

That’s about it for now, but we’re sure to see some more Realme news later on this week. We’ll keep you updated as we see it.
