The Volkswagen Tiguan 2021 priced for South Africa

tiguan

Launched in South Africa for the first time in 2008, the Volkswagen Tiguan is now on its third generation, which has now been confirmed for South Africa. The 2021 Tiguan will be available in South Africa and some neighbours (Namibia and Botswana) from 1 July of this year.

According to a press release, the Tiguan was the best-selling medium SUV in South Africa for the previous year. It reportedly sold over six million units globally and 41,000 in SA for the same period — which is impressive. We’ve all seen how much South Africans like their SUVs, particularly if they can cruise around town in a medium-sized one.

“The Tiguan was the best-selling medium SUV in South Africa in 2020, with 4 280 units sold and a 16.2% share of the A SUV segment,” the company explains. It’s joining the brand’s other T-SUV models in the country, including the T-Cross, T-Roc, Tiguan Allspace and the Touareg (we’re seeing a pattern here).

It’s fitted with one of five engines, four of which are detailed in the table below. There’s also a diesel derivative of the 130kW variant that will be available from Q4 in South Africa.
