God Of War: Ragnarok kicked to 2022

God Of War

And so it was, on the 3rd day of June 2021 on which God Of War fans awoke to the news that the next adventure of Kratos was to be delayed.

And lo, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The developer behind Sony’s much anticipated PS5 exclusive, Santa Monica Studio, didst tweet that God Of War: Ragnarok would now be birthed into existence in the year 2022. Not 2021 as had originally been announced.

And, verily, players wept.

No God Of War for 2021

In its tweet, Santa Monica Studio didst try and explain the necessity for such a delay.

“We remain focused on delivering a top-quality game while maintaining the safe and wellbeing of our team, creative partners and families. With this and, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window to 2022,” the tweet proclaimed.

The announcement was a heinous blow to those who had enjoyed the last outing with Kratos and his son Atreus, as they traversed the Nordic realms back in 2018. Cry as they might to the heavens for some news that this was all a joke, the truth remains – no sequel to that superb game will arrive this year.

Some would be comforted by the imminent arrival of Horizon Forbidden West.

But most can only hang their heads in defeat and pray for a brighter dawn in 2022. No succour for them. No respite at this time. Only shattered dreams and a glimmer of hope in the distance.

And the memory of the trials and tribulations of Cyberpunk 2077. Perhaps a longer wait will be better for all.
