Sony reveals two new DualSense controller colours

Dualsenses

While the PlayStation 5 is an impressive piece of gaming tech over, Sony’s DualSense controller is the standout of this generation of consoles. It features truly impressive upgrades in terms of immersing the user, and while the Glacier White colourway is cool, its two new colours look even better.

DualSensing the cosmos

Going back to the solid black PlayStation fans are used to, Sony’s revealed a Midnight Black variant of its newest controller today. In addition, fans can expect a Cosmic Red variant that comes across almost as ‘blood of my enemies’ in its specific depth of red. But both present very well in the marketing material.

While the ability to ‘personalise’ the PS5 is still a far-off dream, it’s nice to have some form of customisation in terms of DualSense colour. We’ll let this one pass just because the PS5 hasn’t been around all that long. We’ll happily wait for those black side-plates. We consider the DualSense the real upgrade for the PS5 system, so two additional colour options are good enough for now.

Compared to the DualShock 4, the DualSense features improved haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

“Both Midnight Black and Cosmic Red feature a subtle blue hue, that produces unique shades of red and black. A blue hue is also present in the original DualSense wireless controller colors, so all three colors complement each other nicely. The controller’s button colors and detailing has been tailored to complement the new colors as well,” says Sony’s Satoshi Aoyagi

While there’s no indication when the two new colours will make their way to South Africa, it’s safe to assume it’ll take a few weeks. Costing may align with the current price of the DualSense controller (R1,500), or it may be slightly higher — you know the drill.

UPDATE: PlayStation’s new DualSense colours are available for pre-order from Koodoo for R1,500 per controller.
