WhatsApp desktop will now support third-party stickers

If you’re not constantly sending stickers on WhatsApp, you either need to update that app really bad or your currently sitting on Facebook moaning about all the ways the youth communicates that just don’t make sense. Stickers are big for the instant messaging app and there’s no sign of WhatsApp slowing down their implementation. In fact, stickers are about to become a whole lot more prevalent as a new update brings third-party stickers to WhatsApp’s desktop client. Hot off the release of the wallpaper update, it’s clear everyone’s favourite (or most hated) messaging app isn’t slowing down as the year starts to wind down.

Now, if you’re not using WhatsApp’s desktop client, we feel you. Sometimes it’s nice to have a reason to look away from your computer screen rather than just switching to a different window. Having said that, plenty of us in the Stuff office use the desktop client, and the addition of third-party stickers is a big deal. Let’s be honest, those default jobbies just don’t cut it.

Sticking it to WhatsApp

The best part of the update, which is currently in the process of rolling out, is that any third-party stickers you have saved to you mobile version of the app will automatically sync with your desktop account. Meaning you don’t need to fiddle around with annoying third-party downloads on you PC, just pick them up on your device’s app store and they’ll be ready to use on your desktop. It’s actually quite an elegant solution.

Beyond the extended sticker support, the latest update is also fixing and patching a range of bugs found in the desktop client. According to WABetaInfo, some colour changes are also coming to WhatsApp Web; chat bubbles can be switched to a dark green variant when WhatsApp Web is set to dark mode. Good thing too, that light green is just so last year.
