Tesla is launching it’s own brand of hard liquor, in an act that sends really mixed messages for a company that’s mostly known for developing cars. Tesla Tequila started off its unexpected life as an April Fool’s Day joke because, come on, the company wouldn’t actually go ahead and make it’s own brand of booze, right? There’s no way that would ever happen!
But that’s the thing about Elon Musk. Man does everything in his power to embrace the meme he has become on social media. Thus, “Teslaquila” is a reality and you can order a lighting bolt-shaped bottle of the stuff right now. It’s ridiculously expensive, so if you’re looking to get lit on a Friday night maybe just go for one of the cheaper options.
It should noted that it’s not actually called “Teslaquila”, because some patents registrations prohibited that specific name. Although we’re sure Musk did his best to secure those rights, sometimes you just have to settle for Tesla Tequila.
Tesla Tequila Mocking Bird
The drink itself is made by Nosotros Tequila and will set you back $250 a bottle. If you had to convert that to rands ,without taking tax into account, you’re looking at roughly R4,000.
In a statement released online, Tesla described its tequila as, “an exclusive, small-batch premium 100% de agave tequila añejo made from sustainably sourced highland and lowland agaves. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and into a hand-blown glass bottle, Tesla Tequila features a dry fruit and light vanilla nose with a balanced cinnamon pepper finish. Best enjoyed as a sipping tequila.”
So if you have all that cash to blow on a lighting bolt-shaped bottle of tequila then you’re very clearly in luck. That’s a pretty specific line item on your wish list, though. Maybe look at investing all that cash on something that’s not going through your system faster than Elon Musk can plummet his own company’s stock prices on Twitter.
