The Galaxy Tab Active 3 is Samsung’s latest rugged tablet and it looks like a beast

Everyone’s getting into the rugged game right now. I mean, it makes sense, right? There’s a whole group of people who don’t really care for all of those dainty devices. The ones you just look at a little crooked and end up shattering the screen. If you’re the type of rough-and-tumble person that most of us here at Stuff aren’t, you’re probably a big fan of phones and tables that are designed to withstand a fall off a short cliff or a brief encounter with a brick. There’s no shortage of excellent rugged devices out on the market right now so Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab Active 3 will need to really set itself apart from the crowd to make a good impression.

Announced last night, the Galaxy Tab Active 3 is meant to take every aspect of the previous Galaxy Tab Active 2 and ruggedise (?) them even further. Sporting the usual features of a tough-as-nails tablet such as water resistance and an IP68 dust-proof screen, the Galaxy Tab Active 3 can also supposedly survive drops of up to 1.5 meters which… well, that’s not really all that high, right? Oh, and the entire thing has been designed to be used while using gloves which is perfect for those construction workers and welders looking to check up on plans without having to ditch their protective clothes.

Under the hood, you’ll find your standard fare of Samsung hardware including an Exynos 9810 processor, 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. It’s also sporting a massive 5050mAh battery that supports fast charging via USB. You’ll get a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera which aren’t really all that impressive but you’re not buying something like the Galaxy Tab Active 3 to take pictures, right?

While we have no official local pricing for the Galaxy Tab Active 3, it’s estimated to retail for roughly R9,800 when it hits our shores sometime in the near future. It’s not a bad price given what you’re paying for, especially if you’re in a line of work that requires some extra durable equipment.
