When you buy an iPhone, especially the latest one of the market, you expect it to be a top-of-the-line piece of hardware. What other reason do you have for wanting an iPhone? You want to be able to whip it out at a family gathering or high school reunion so that everyone around you can bear witness to your amazing wealth and sophisticated taste. The last thing you’d want to do is unlock your iPhone 11 and have everyone gasp in shock and horror as they notice your screen…is green.
Which is just the perfect colour if you think about it, given that it’s clearly a sign of something sickly going on. A number of users have taken to Reddit and the MacRumors forums to discuss how their iPhones have a green tint to the display after unlocking. The reports state that the green tint washes out the phone for about three seconds before disappearing and seems to occur approximately once every fourth time the phone is unlocked. Devices most affected by this problem appear to be the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. Some users have also reported seeing the issue appear on the iPhone X and XS although in far fewer numbers.
What’s causing all these iPhones to look like a David Fincher movie? Well, no-one is quite sure yet. Some have suggested updating the operating system to 13.5.1 to fix the issue yet that apparently isn’t a solid way of fixing the problem. Update 13.5.1 is currently in beta and if some users have noted it to be a possible fix then it’s likely an issue with the phone’s software, something that can be easily remedied by Apple.
