Today Sonos announced a brand new product in its premium audio lineup — this time it’s a beast of a soundbar called Sonos Arc.
Arc functions as an immersive home theatre experience, including AI voice assistant smarts with Google Assistant, Alexa and Apple TV integration. It features cinema-quality sound as well as support for Dolby Atmos. Just imagine rewatching Avengers: Endgame on this bad boy.
“Home has never played a more important role in our lives and we’ve always been about making the home more enjoyable with great sounding products and new experiences. Arc brings the sounds of our favourite shows and artists to life like never before,” says Patrick Spence, the Sonos CEO. “Our goal is to make any room you have a television a place you can easily enjoy all of the great streaming video and music that exists today. Arc illustrates our commitment to brilliant sound and premium design, and sets a new standard for soundbars.”

The Sonos Arc is labelled a ‘smart’ soundbar and features eleven high-performance drivers, including two that are upward-firing for 3D audio. The bar even adjusts its sound profile using newly developed software, based on the home theatre set-up and the content it’s playing. It’ll pump out anything from stereo sound to Dolby Digital 5.1 or Dolby Atmos according to your auditory needs.
The Arc’s sound can also be adjusted and refined using the updated Sonos app. The app will allow you, the bearer of ears, to use features like Speech Enhancement (for clearer vocals), Night Sound (to temper loud sounds when the fam is sleeping), and adjust Arc’s acoustic profile based on the room it’s placed in.
The Sonos Arc soundbar launches in matte black and matte white, and can be placed either in front of a standing TV or mounted to the wall with a separate custom-designed wall mount. The soundbar will retail for R18,000 — we’ll let you know once we know when it’ll land locally
