Alongside its new 14.1in MacBook, Apple is reportedly developing a new 27in iMac Pro and a 7.9in iPad mini — just in case you needed another excuse to dip into your savings for a slew of Apple products. Maybe the shine is beginning to fade on your old collection of fancy tablets and computers. We don’t know.
Just the other day we were looking at the piles of old MacBooks lying around the office and we thought to ourselves, “Stuff, when will Apple finally launch a new laptop? We’re so mightily tired of all these dusty machines performing at an above-par standard. When will we finally get something new?” We’re a greedy bunch, we know.
As it turns out, the world might not have too long to wait to get their hands on Apple’s latest string of products. According to a research note composed by industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and first seen by MacRumours, Apple is reportedly hard at work on a new 14.1in MacBook Pro with a reworked Mini-LED display. Beyond this MacBook Pro though, a new iMac Pro and iPad Mini are allegedly also being built with both products also featuring Mini-LED screens.
This most recent note elaborates on Kuo’s previous analyses, expanded Apple’s projected product releases in 2020 from two to six. “We predict that Apple is currently developing six mini-LED-support products (vs. the previous report of only two products), including a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, a 27-inch iMac Pro in 4Q20, a 14.1-inch MacBook Pro (upgraded from 13.3-inch), a 16-inch MacBook Pro, a 10.2-inch iPad, and a 7.9-inch iPad mini in 2020,” writes Kuo.
What’s most interesting about this, to us anyway, is a new iteration of the the iMac Pro. Considering the last model was released all the way back in 2017, no-one really knew what was happening with that particular product line. Well, apparently it’s back from the dead, much like the iPad Mini which saw its first update in years in 2019, when Apple finally introduced new chips into the machine, and Apple Pencil support. New Mini-LED displays and some fresher processors will likely be added to this iteration of the iPad Mini.
