What was it we were saying about Porsche Design putting its name on more things? This time around it’s the Huawei Watch 2 that is getting the Porsche Design treatment and we’ve got to admit that the resulting smartwatch is awfully good-looking.
But you don’t have to take our word for it, just look at the thing. We’d go so far as to say that it’s the best-looking version of Huawei’s Watch 2 series, and that’s up against some pretty stiff competition. That’s largely thanks to the custom Porsche Design face and the red-stitched leather-and-plastic strap that arrives with this edition, though we suspect that the stainless steel case doesn’t hurt either. Not that we’d be keeping this one in there, inside a safe, where nothing can scratch it. We’re not that insecure, who told you that?
On the tech front, the Porsche Design wristwear is identical on the inside to the standard Watch 2. That means that you’re looking at all the tracking options you could wish for (except proper swimming metrics, thanks to the Watch 2 only having an IP68 rating). Heart-rate, GPS, VO2 max, phone calls from your wrist, and a range of ways to connect (WiFi and Bluetooth, yeah?) are all included as features. Oh, and a claimed two-day battery life.
If you simply must have one right away and have no qualms about shipping your tech from overseas then the Porsche Design Huawei Watch 2 is now available. It’ll be a while before it appears in South African stores and then it’ll likely be a touch more expensive than the European price of €795 (R12,160).
