Apple’s iPhone 7 goes on sale this Friday in the States, as well as in a whole mess of other countries that are not South Africa. And perhaps it’s a good thing that we’ve been left off the list because Apple has completely sold out of their stock of the new Jet Black iPhone before they’ve even hit shelves.
The company has issued a statement saying that the (admittedly limited) Jet Black edition of the iPhone is not going to be available to anyone who didn’t pre-order it right away. In addition, folks won’t be able to just pick up an iPhone 7 Plus on launch day either — those are sold out too.
Which is what we’ve all been expecting. Apple said as much last week when they said that they would no longer be reporting official sales figures for the first weekend of iPhone madness. They already know that they’re going to sell every handset they’ve got.
Apple’s recent statement said:
Beginning Friday, limited quantities of iPhone 7 in silver, gold, rose gold, and black will be available for walk-in customers at Apple retail stores. During the online pre-order period, initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus in all finishes and iPhone 7 in jet black sold out and will not be available for walk-in customers. Availability at partner locations for all finishes may vary and we recommend checking directly with them.
Customers can continue to order all models in all colors on apple.com. We sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience as we work hard to get the new iPhone into the hands of everyone who wants one as quickly as possible.
Lines have already started forming at Apple retail stores in the US. Seems people still want to be the first in line to receive Apple’s latest and greatest. So much so that Apple’s newest store in San Francisco had its line start this past weekend. Hope they brought enough to eat…
