Reports from both the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times claim that Apple is testing “wristwatch-like devices made of curved glass”, with both reports citing anonymous sources familiar with the matter.
There are few other details on what to expect from such a device, though Apple has reportedly already spoken to Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry Co.) regarding the concept.
There is of course loads of speculation around what Apple could do with a wristwatch form factor, with most ideas indicating that Apple may be targeting the wearable computer segment of the tech market. Apple has previously expressed interest in this sector so it’s not a stretch to believe that the company will take a stab at it in the near future.
Apple declined to comment on the rumours of a possible smartwatch when queried.
