Instagram users who favour Android devices have got reason to smile at the moment. The latest update for the photo-blogging app has brought a whole lot of changes that should keep those cheerful images authentic, starting with an overall boost in speed for the app.
Profile load speeds have been improved and, in doing so, the company has also reduced the overall file size of Instagram for Android, reports The Verge.
Other than that, all the company has really done is “…simplified our visuals throughout our app, making use of valuable screen space for small devices and feature phones and rearranging our design to keep buttons within easy reach”.
You’d think that would be enough for a visual redesign but they’ve done it with global users in mind, by improving visual support on more low-end Android devices. The company has also, in reducing the file size and boosting performance on Android, given more consideration to the bulk of their users, who reside outside the US (and within reach of the sort of internet performance that is a second cousin to dial-up).
The updated app is now live.
