You might have heard a bit about the ‘new normal’, a term being used to describe what the world will look like when we can all go outside without masks on again. A prime example? Shopping, and Under Armour’s here to show us how things are about to change. The sportswear brand, in addition to having a COVID-mask on the way, has launched its e-commerce platform in South Africa. Big deal, right? It’s just an online store. Right? Actually… Going through changes Part of it is certainly an online store, sure. You can click through products and add things to…

Under Armour is known for all manner of high-tech sporting gear. It shouldn’t be surprising that the brand has something coming along in the mask department, since that’s a thing that’ll be sticking around for the next few years. Meet the SportsMask.
September’s coming closer and closer, which can only mean… well, several things. But the specific thing we’re talking about here is the reveal of the year’s newest iPhone. We’re a greedy lot and, not happy with one iPhone launch this year already, are keen on seeing what else Apple has in store. The surprise may have been spoiled a little, however. Twitter account @Jin_Store dropped a series of images showing what it claims are moulds of the iPhone 12’s design. This is backed by apparent CAD drawings of the handset-to-be . Fitting in The drawings and moulds aren’t exactly surprising…
You might think you’re into tech but you’re not a true tech-head until you’ve bought and unboxed your very own electric vehicle from the internet. Because that’s totally a thing you can do now. And it’ll be shipped to your house, in cardboard — like a package from Amazon or Takealot. Yeah, right Don’t believe us? That’s okay, a video never lies, except when it does. The good folks over at Jalopnik actually went and ordered a tiny little electric car from China, had it shipped to the States and then unboxed the thing like it was an oversized smartphone.…
We’re not sure about you but we’re already looking forward to 2021. We’re not saying that 2020 can’t still turn things around but we’re not really holding out any hope, you know? With that in mind, Apple’s 2021 iPad Pro may turn up rocking 5G tech from Qualcomm. That’s according to anonymous Twitter account L0vetodream — which doesn’t sound like a reputable place to get Apple leak details from, does it? However, The Verge points out, the Twitter account has recently tweeted accurate Apple info in advance of official announcements. Plus, come on, it’s 5G. We’ll have 5G toasters soon…
Meet the Dyson Battery Electric Vehicle. You guys are familiar with Dyson, the British tech company best known for things that go round and round — notably fans, vacuum cleaners and hair dryers. If you’d been paying attention, you would have known that Dyson had set its sights on another electric thing that goes round and round — an attempt at an electric car. The vehicle was supposed to launch this year, after more than £2 billion was thrown at the project, but it’s not going to happen. What’s the big deal? But we’ve known about the project’s cancellation since…
It’s that time again, where Stuff gives away something for the splendid price of absolutely nothing. This time we’re looking at a duo, only you’re not going to be winning both. Two different phones, two different winners — that’s the deal with the Cubot pair we’ve got up for grabs this month. And the pair couldn’t be more different — the Cubot P30 is the smarter looking of the two, while the Cubot King Kong Mini is tough, but small. It’s a little like Joe Pesci that way. But both are in the budget bracket, somehow — the Cubot P30…
Can’t sleep? Is it a recent thing? Google Trends data suggests that your recent bout with insomnia might have more than a little to do with the stresses of lockdown. Global searches on the search engine for the terms “insomnia” and “can’t sleep” reached an all-time high in April this year. It’s not exactly clear what the reasons behind the spike are, but the timing is very suggestive. April 2020 is right in the middle of most lockdowns around the world, or as countries were prepping extreme social distancing measures. It’s been a stressful time all-round and stress… stress stops…
Mobile service provider MTN intends to launch its 5G network in South Africa from this month. The initial launch was supposed to be from 1 June, but this has been delayed. When the service does launch, a little later this month, MTN’s 5G will be available in SA in MTN’s LTE coverage areas and at LTE price points. This is broader coverage than we were expecting for 5G’s initial rollout. It’s a conspiracy MTN’s spilt the beans in its Y’ello Trader magazine, which explains that the service would go live from 1 June this year. The fine print for the…
Want to feel old? Audio specialists Sennheiser are turning 75, meaning they’ve been around since 1945. That’s one heck of a history when it comes to tech, where companies sometimes count their life-spans in months (in which case, it might blow your mind to realise that Nintendo is 131 years old this year). To celebrate, Sennheiser has released a special edition of its iconic HD 25 headphones. They haven’t changed from the same, amazingly-detailed headphones first released 32 years ago — they’ve just got a new colour scheme. That’s yellow for the earcups, inspired by Sennheiser’s (also iconic but super-retro)…
